Abstract
The global environment is increasingly interconnected; the future, complex and unpredictable. To thrive, companies and institutions need employees that can work effectively within this 'new normal’. Universities must prepare work-ready graduates. By teaching students to synthesise and apply knowledge creatively and critically in collaboration with diverse disciplines and cultures, they become accustomed to complexity. Project-based learning develops practical skills and knowledge for application in real-world environments. Virtual platforms enable delivery with diversity at scale. When combined, the role of teachers shift towards curation, coaching and facilitation; and students become the owners of their learning. BK Holdings (HUST) and Enterprise by Design (BU) have worked together to run a 3-week, virtual bootcamp. Five teams from Vietnam collaborated with five students from Bangor, embedded within an ecosystem of practitioners. Supported by five mentors, students applied design thinking to refine and validate a business concept, then pitched to a panel of investors. |
